Vocational Pathway - Manufacturing and Technology Sector (Level 2)
About the programme
In this hands-on practical course, you will gain entry-level skills by completing electrical and automotive modules where you dismantle large and small engines. In the mechanical engineering section, you will build a project which you will be able to take home.

Programme modules: Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and automotive engineering.
NCEA level: Level 2 (Level 3 in Year 2)
Entry criteria: Students enrolled in the WTA must still attend secondary school and keep up with normal school work. The unit standards achieved at the WTA will count towards NCEA Level 1, 2, or 3.
Number of credits: 29
Duration of programme: 31 weeks
Programme structure: One day per week (8.30am-3pm) during the school term.
Location: Depending on your closest location, it will be one of the following:
- Rotokauri Campus
- Kopu Workshop, 25 Kopu Road, Thames
- Ōtorohanga Workshop, 38 Phillips Avenue, Ōtorohanga
Cost: Free to the student.
Transport: To be arranged with your school and covered by WTA (if applicable).

Year 2 entry criteria: To move on to Year 2, you will need to have completed 80% of the available credits in Year 1.
