STAR courses for secondary ​school students

Want to learn something new, gain some NCEA credits, but only commit to STAR term study? Try a STAR course at Wintec.

STAR courses are 4 to 15 days long and focused on students achieving up to 21 credits in a particular area of interest. These credits will count towards NCEA level 2 or 3, and may contribute to an NCEA Vocational Pathway Award.

STAR courses are a great way to learn specific skills while picking up specific credits. There are currently STAR courses available in half of the vocational pathways in the wheel below. We are happy to hear about any new ideas or concepts schools may have for new STAR courses.

Online Courses

Online courses are great for supplementing your NCEA credits, and can in some cases be studied in conjunction with a particular school subject.

Students can achieve up to 10 credits towards NCEA level 2 or 3.
