What's it all about?
This course introduces young people to tertiary study in the food and beverage preparation and service field. It provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare and serve food safely and identify food contamination hazards and methods of control. They will also get to experience student life at the Centre for Hospitality on the Wintec Rotokauri campus. These two unit standards are the food safety qualifications recognised by councils, and the food and beverage preparation and service industries.Upon successful completion students can cross-credit:
- 6 credits towards the Certificate in Catering (Level 3) or;
- 6 credits towards the National Certificate in Hospitality (Food and Beverage Service) (Level 3).
What to bring/wear?
Students will be working in our trainee commercial kitchens, they must wear long pants, have leather-topped shoes, hair to be tied back, no facial jewellery or other jewellery to be worn.
