What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?

I enjoy the organising aspect of my job, and I really enjoy meeting and supporting our Postgrad students – finding out what their projects are and supporting them through their critiques.

What do you love about your area?

I come from a teaching and art-making background, so I love hearing about all of the different projects the postgrad students are working on. In terms of admin, I enjoy working on organising critiques and helping things run smoothly for tutor and students.

Tell us about your experience in the industry

I did a Bachelor of Media Arts majoring in Painting. Then I moved on to Waikato Uni to do a Postgrad Diploma in Secondary School Teaching – I have 10 years’ experience as an art teacher. I’ve also worked in libraries and completed a Master of Information Management at Victoria University.
I think the combo of my experience as a teacher, librarian and artist work really well for my role as Postgraduate Academic Administrator – I can empathise with students and staff.

What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?

I love art and I’m an artist – painter, sculpture, crafter. I’m a member of the Ms. Arts Collective, and I’m currently looking at ideas around how we value motherhood. My favourite artists are the Hotham Street Ladies and Perry Grayson. I’m also a mum of two toddlers, Lochie and Isla, and the wife of Craig.
