What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?

I love it when you see the spark in a student’s eye and you know that **boom** something made sense to that person.

What do you love about your area?

I love the way all the domains that used to be considered separate are moving towards each other. Since I teach across moving image, contemporary arts, multidisciplinary practice and art theory, it’s been amazing to see how what we used to talk as a possibility is now every day practice.

Tell us about your experience in the industry

I’ve had 17 years of multidisciplinary collaborations, usually working with community and industry organisations. I’ve mainly made films and interactive installations, but have also worked on a wide variety of creative projects from theatre projects to radio.

What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?

I’m in the middle of my PhD working on a Corten plate steel interactive waka sculpture that will stand 6.8m tall and be situated besides the Waikato River.
