What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?

Flexibility has been rewarding for me being able to balance between home and work life.

I enjoy teaching people and observing students walking away with a full basket of knowledge.

Tell us about your experience in the industry

I began my teaching career six years ago walking as a sub-contractor to the Department of Corrections teaching a Level 2 Certificate in Tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori. I really enjoyed working with the men in their mostly Māori in helping them to research their whakapapa and culture and alongside that learning Te Reo Māori which was really rewarding for our men. I recently began with Wintec and have taken on a part-time role with the Center for Foundation and Education Pathways teaching the Wintec staff who attend the Te Tauihu programme. I am also teaching part-time for the Center for the Health and Wellbeing where I deliver two modules Introduction to Health and Wellbeing and Te Ao Hauora Māori I am enjoying the experience thus far.
