Get started in a rewarding career as an Occupational Therapist. You will give people their independence back as you assist and encourage them to overcome physical difficulties. You will plan and direct therapy treatment, help with daily tasks, adapt equipment and housing for easier use, educate family, help set realistic goals and provide the support needed to reach them. For a patient with physical difficulties, even one small step inspires a sense of achievement.
We also offer a career path for a Rehabilitation Trainer, helping people regain ability after injury. If this interests you, see the Sport and Education Programme Guide.
Your study will combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning in real healthcare environments. You will have the chance to care for your own patients and learn about the industry through putting classroom learning into practice.
If you don’t meet the entry requirements to the courses, we offer Te Ara Pūtake My Academic Pathway (Health Pathway) that will help prepare you for enrolment in the programme.
