Centre DirectorCurrently Sara is the Centre Director of Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing and Hospitality. Prior to coming into this role she has been part of the Wintec community since 2000. Initially employed as a professional cookery tutor, other academic appointments include tutoring in food and beverage service, travel and tourism and communications have also occured in her tenure at Wintec.
Her industry experiences in New Zealand and overseas since graduating from Wintec with City and Guilds of London 706/1 and 706/2 has provided Sara with a passion for communication skills, customer service, personal presentation and professionalism - all key areas the Centre for Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing and Hospitality programmes focus on.
Sara undertook qualifications in adult education, graduating with the Wintec Diploma in Adult Learning and Teaching in 2006. She is currently studying part time towards a Bachelor of Management Studies, majoring in Human Resource Management and Strategic Management at Waikato University.
Sara is a member of the New Zealand Chefs Association and the Restaurant Association of New Zealand. Professional development over the last few years has been attending conferences, management training and Educational Lean.
As Centre Director Sara is not only responsible for leading the teams at the Centre for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy and Centre for Hospitality, but one of her key strategic objectives is developing closer links with industry, Industry Training Organisations and its professional associations. The key performance indicators of this is developing collaborative relationships with a strong regional focus and developing programmes and courses to meet the needs of the Waikato region. Sara's other key objective is to ensure that all aspects of the School focuss on "Best Practice" in all areas of its operational and strategic direction.
