Restaurant and Barista Service

Upon successful completion of the Restaurant and Barista Services programme, you will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3)​

The purpose of the Restaurant and Barista Service programme is to provide students with the requisite introductory knowledge and skills to be effective front of house professionals in the food and beverage sector. Students will learn to communicate effectively with customers, professionally serve food and drinks, apply health and safety, food safety and security practices, and gain an understanding of standard operating procedures in a hospitality establishment. ​

Entry Requirements:

Minimum three years secondary education; or

A relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2; or Equivalent

Candidates aged under 20 years who do not meet the entry requirements but who can demonstrate a reasonable chance of success through other educational attainment and/or work/life experience may be eligible for provisional entry at the discretion of the Centre Director or designated nominee.

​Candidates aged over 20 years who do not meet the entry requirements but whose skills, education or work experience indicate that they have a reasonable chance of success may be eligible for special admission at the discretion of the Centre Director or designated nominee.

Career/further opportunities:

​Graduates will have the skills and knowledge to work as service personnel in restaurants that provide table and/or buffet services and/or as baristas in hospitality establishments.

This programme can lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 4).
