What will you study?
You will study basic biology, chemistry, microbiology and mathematics (in the context of drug and drip calculations).
How will you study?
You will complete a range of online activities, including lessons and exercises, watch video clips, try some quizzes, complete online multiple choice tests and complete formal assessments.
After successful completion.
This pathway is designed to help you attain the science prerequisites for entry into the Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery programmes.
If you choose not to pursue a Nursing or Midwifery pathway, you can cross credit what you have learnt towards a Diploma in Technology (Science) (Level 6).
What are the science prerequisites for nursing or midwifery study?
Candidates are required to have at least 14 credits each at NCEA Level 3 in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Science or equivalent for the Bachelor of Nursing (along with other prerequisite subjects). Bachelor of Midwifery candidates are required to have at least 14 credits at NCEA Level 3 in Biology or Chemistry, or equivalent (along with other prerequisite subjects).
If you have met all the entry requirements for Nursing or Midwifery but don’t have the science pre-requisites, this is the programme for you.
