Summary
This programme is designed to provide ākonga/learners with a broad base of business knowledge and gain role-specific skills in either accounting or leadership and management.
All strands will learn about business operational functions, business communication, the New Zealand business context and interpersonal relationships.
In the accounting strand, ākonga will study financial transactions, financial statements, budgeting and taxation, and decision-making and analysis. This strand may equip graduates to work towards the academic requirements for CAANZ’s Accounting Technicians College.
The leadership and management strand allows ākonga to dive further into business planning, project management and leadership.
In the administration and technology strand, ākonga will focus on advanced business technologies, systems and processes using a combination of in-person and online methods, known as blended learning.
What you will study
Ākonga will study compulsory core modules and choose a strand from Accounting, Administration and Technology or Leadership and Management. As a general guideline, you are expected to attend classes up to 16 hours per week (as a full-time ākonga). Scheduled classes are usually between 8am to 5pm. In addition, you are also expected to complete some self-directed study.
"I want to work in New Zealand’s financial sector in investing or accounting and initially studied the Business 5 diploma before moving into the Bachelor of Applied Management. After experiencing various types of tertiary learning before, I knew I could access more one-on-one opportunities with the tutors at Wintec."
