Hairdressing

We provide relevant and practical skills that will open doors in the world of hairdressing. Hairdressers consult with clients about the style or cut they want. They wash, cut, colour and blow wave clients' hair; advise on products and treatments for hair and scalp; and clean and sanitise equipment. Hairdressers may also be involved in doing the banking, helping train other staff members, and preparing for industry competitions.

Hospitality and cookery

With qualifications in hospitality or cookery students will be work-ready for opportunities in New Zealand and around the world. Studying cookery at Wintec prepares students to work in a commercial kitchen as a chef. Midwifery

You will be the go-to for women during pregnancy, labour, birth and for several weeks after. You will provide support and advice during one of the biggest milestones in a woman’s life. As a midwife your days will be spent educating women on pregnancy, birth and parenting, organising and discussing ultrasounds and blood tests, referring to other specialists when necessary, prescribing medication for labour, examining and caring for newborn babies and advising on breastfeeding, immunisations, contraception and general mother and baby health. You will graduate with an internationally recognised qualification and the knowledge needed to own your own business as a midwife. Your study will combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning in real healthcare environments. You will have the chance to care for women and their babies and learn about the midwifery profession through applying classroom learning in practice. Partners in Painting | Sarah Mitchell Munro

People rarely achieve extraordinary artistic feats without the support of others working behind the scenes. This work is often unseen and unheard. Dorothy Kate Richmond, Anne McCahon, Doris Lusk, Douglas Lilburn, Patrick André Stephane, and Rita Angus have provided inspiration and tireless support for well-known and celebrated painters in Aotearoa New Zealand. Partners in painting (2023) is a watercolour exhibition that re-imagines the lives of these inspiring people and retells often-hidden stories of their lives. It challenges the conception of the artist as an independent genius, struggling in a vacuum, to instead reveal the complex, entangled and creative interdependence of these talented individuals.
