Kia ora koutou, (hello everyone) and thank you for joining us here at Wintec for your learning journey.
My role at Wintec is Academic Learning Advisor and I am based at the Rotokauri Campus. My teaching passions lie in the areas of literacy and numeracy capability. I have worked teaching these skills both here at Wintec and in other organisations, from primary school level right through to adult education. Like some of my colleagues, I also hold a qualification in teaching English as an additional language (EAL) and very much enjoy working with our non-English speaking students.
Here at Student Learning Services, we offer academic support to students who need help with their study, and this support is offered through face to face, group, peer-to-peer and embedded in class support. We also run workshops and free study and writing skills courses from time to time. You’ll find details of this support on our Academic Learning Toolkit, accessible via your Moodle page.
I mostly work in the area of Trades and Engineering here at Wintec, however I also see other students who would like to know more about how to improve and upskill their literacy and numeracy (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and maths) so I look forward to meeting some of you, sharing this knowledge, and in the process learning more about you.
Kia waimarie, good luck with your journey ahead.
