Kia ora! Kō Jayne tōku ingoa - my name is Jayne, your friendly Student Advisor.

My job involves non-academic tautoko/support for students – everything from money, accommodation to confidence-building and personal problems. If something comes up that I can't directly help you with, I'll make sure you find the right person on or off-campus to help you out.

I am a student too – I study psychology at uni, so I know all too well the pressures students face. It's not easy with all the essays, reports, exams, deadlines… not to mention limited money! There have been times I've needed to ask for help: everyone needs support at times.

Education is something I'm very passionate about; I have seen many people transform themselves through education and reach their goals, which is exciting to see. It is an absolute joy and honour to support students to reach their goals.
Most of my immediate whānau lives in or around Kirikiriroa/Hamilton. I have a nephew and two nieces who I love spending time with (and the rest of the family too, lol).

I have lived in Kirikiriroa/Hamilton most of my life, but also in France, the United Kingdom, and Auckland. In a past life (or what feels like a past life), I was a graphic designer… I really enjoyed it, but around ten years ago, I started to see a counsellor, and it was life-changing. It was so awesome and powerful that I decided I wanted to work with people too. From there, I volunteered at Lifeline, studied psychology, and worked with people with intellectual disabilities for two years… and now here we are! I have been at Wintec for around three years – I enjoy my job and love my awesome, fun team.

Please come and see me, with any problem big or small. I will listen without judgement.

You can find me at our Gardens Campus on Wednesday mornings until 1pm and at the City Campus from 1.30pm-4.30pm, and all day Friday in the Student Life office.
