- -Farming and pasture systems; grass growth and grass feed value changes through the year
-Methods of feed conservation and the impact of feed quality; systems for controlling feed quality and availability; nutritional value of fodder species and supplements and their place in the farming year; analysis of feeds; basic feed budgets
-Common rural animal housing systems used in New Zealand farming
-Professional practice attributes: Compliance with workplace health and safety requirements; knowledge of animal welfare standards and relevant legislation; sustainable practices; effective communication skills; cultural recognition and sensitivity; professional and ethical behaviour; teamwork; accurate record-keeping. - Teaching and Learning Strategy
