Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, it is expected that students will be able to:

1.0 Describe ethical and legal considerations in massage practice.
-Identify ethical considerations and apply professional standards.
-Adhere to scope of practise, liaise within the health community and adhere to registration criteria.
-Describe confidentiality, informed consent, client privacy, and right of refusal.
-Identify local body and OSH requirements as they pertain to massage
-Identify Acts of Parliament relative to massage

2.0 Maintain health records in a therapies practice
-Establish and update a client health record.
-Use a client health record in massage application.
-Identify appropriate record keeping techniques to ensure client confidentiality and record safety.

3.0 Demonstrate knowledge of sport massage techniques, and perform pre- and post event massage techniques
-Describe the use and effects of massage in sport.
-Describe the role of massage in sport - benefits, injury prevention, pre and post event massage.
-Apply massage in sport

4.0 Demonstrate small business practice in a massage setting
-Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills for professional practise.
-Describe sound business principles with regards to practising massage.
-Discuss the importance of referral and Allied practitioner relationships.
-Identify business models and employment within the massage industry.

-Select and apply pre- and post- event massage techniques in a massage practice setting
-Select and apply sport massage techniques in a massage practice setting

To pass this module student must complete all assignments and accumulate an overall module mark of no less than 50 percent.

Students must also meet all of the requirements of the competency based assessment tasks to be eligible for a final grade for this module. The final grade will be on the basis of the marks from the achievement based tasks.
Learning and Teaching Resource
Text and readings will be determined by the lecturer and will be provided to the student in the individual handbook.

Students are required to keep a detailed log of personal outdoor adventure experiences which includes course activities and out of course, own time, experiences.
