Learning Outcomes
Following the satisfactory completion of this course, students will be able to:

1.0Understand and apply recreation programming theory
Different levels of activity are incorporated into programme design.
The needs of different subgroups are identified and taken into account in
programme design.
The principles of choice, variety and adaptability are incorporated into the
programme design.

2.0Observe and evaluate the implementation of recreation programmes in the
community
Aspects of programme organisation and management are evaluated

3.0Demonstrate the stages required in planning and organising a recreation
programme.
Concept plans and feasibility studies appropriate to the programme are designed
and evaluated.
Critical paths of sufficient detail to be a functional planning tool are constructed and
used.
Funding sources that are suitable for the event are identified and pursued or
applied for.
A suitable programme is designed and bookings made, which are appropriate to the programme.
A poster and brochure containing programme and registration details are designed
and produced.
A marketing plan is constructed and implemented which is appropriate to the
programme.
A projected budget and financial recording system is designed and adhered to.
Comprehensive operation plans are developed appropriate to the recreation
programme and client group

4.0Design and implement policies and procedures for the programme which meet
current industry standards.
Health and Safety considerations and risk management procedures are identified
and compiled into a Safety Manual.
Behaviour management policies suitable for programme clientele are developed
and put in place.
Staff responsibilities and roles are identified and described in job descriptions.
Complaints procedures are developed and implemented.

5.0Implement a recreation programme.
Self-management and management of peers and volunteer staff are carried out
Resources are appropriately assembled and managed for the successful running of the programme.
Risk management principles and procedures appropriate to the event, are
practiced and applied.
Clientele are managed in an appropriate and professional manner.
Registration and medical records are maintained
Programme details and operations plans are followed and adapted if necessary.
Money is managed and accounted for in an accurate and transparent fashion.
Evaluation methods are applied.
Debriefs involving all staff members are conducted daily during the programme.
Recommendations acted upon and commendations identified.


6.0Demonstrate procedures for post programme management.
A full report, equal with industry standards, is compiled and submitted.
Full financial records are compiled and submitted.
Programme evaluations are analysed and presented.
Range: formative and summative assessments from parents and children
Supporters are formally thanked.
