Prescription
To provide students with a range of outdoor pursuit experiences and provide opportunities to learn technical skills in a range of outdoor pursuits. Participation in this course contributes to the personal development of students’ personal technical skill sets in a range of outdoor pursuits. This module and module SPOE405 both have the same aim and learning outcomes but will cover a different technical field under the scope of outdoor education, e.g. a student may do caving in one module and white water in the other.

Learning Outcomes
Identify and use equipment needed for specific outdoor adventure activities.
Demonstrate personal skills and competence in technical outdoor adventure pursuits.
Demonstrate personal safety management competence in a range of outdoor adventure pursuits.
Content
-Personal technical skills for a range of outdoor pursuits that could include but are not limited to tramping, camping, kayaking, sea kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing, caving, mountaineering, and adventure based learning and high/low ropes.
-Technical equipment needed for outdoor adventure activities.

-Risk management
-Achieve Technical Competency in a minimum of two outdoor pursuits.

Teaching and Learning Strategy
Blended delivery of theory, online, and practical activities.
Lectures will be used to introduce key themes and main topics to the students. Guest speakers may be invited on specialist topics.
Tutorials will develop concepts further through group work, projects and online learning. The assessments will encourage reflection on important concepts taught throughout the course.
Assessment Criteria
To pass this module students must complete all assessments and accumulate an overall module mark of no less than 50%
