- Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this Module, it is expected that students will be able to:
1.0Demonstrate knowledge of exercise prescription
- Describe the principles of training
- Apply the principles of training to exercise programs
2.0Produce and demonstrate advanced training programmes.
- Construct and demonstrate individualised programmes to develop flexibility, strength, hypertrophy, and muscular endurance.
- Communicate to clients the key teaching points related to prescribed exercises.
3.0Discuss and construct special population resistance training programmes
- Construct and discuss programmes for special populations. Anti-natal, post, asthma, obesity and physical disabilities
4.0 Construct periodised programmes for clients
- Construct, implement and adapt exercise programmes in accordance with clients' goals and objectives.
- Prepare periodisation components of fitness into a training year for healthy adults .
Range: Not limited to but may include: Aerobic/Endurance, Anaerobic, Strength, Hypertrophy, Flexibility, Weight Loss and Circuit Programmes
5.0Discuss muscular, neural and endocrine adaptations to resistance exercise.
- Describe muscular adaptations that occur to different types of resistance training
Range: Not limited to but may include: Muscular endurance, Strength training, hypertrophy, speed and power.
6.0Discuss trends in exercise prescription
- Identify and discuss new methods of physical conditioning or training.
- Discuss the efficiency of identified training methods. - Basic of Assessment
- To pass this module student must accumulate an overall module mark of no less than 50 with a pass of 50 or more in the practical assessment.
Students must also meet all of the requirements of the competency based assessment tasks to be eligible for a final grade for this module. The final grade will be on the basis of the marks from the achievement based tasks.
