In this module the student will gain competence in the use of Computer Aided Draughting for applications appropriate to landscape design and construction.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course the student will be able to:

1.Use CAD to import and manipulate a range of file types
2.Develop and use a range of plant graph symbols
3.Further use Landmark tools and worksheets for landscape budgeting
4.Apply survey data to create and surface modelling for to generate 3D landscape plan drawing plans
5.Develop modelling and rendering skills for 3D landscape presentation
6.Produce a CAD landscape drawing for each of the following:
i.Site Planning and 3D Surface modelling
ii.Concept and Master plans
iii.Elevations and 3D modelling
iv.Construction details and 3D construction modelling

Content and Process

oImport and manipulate other file types e.g. Jpeg (aerial photos), Tiff, PDF, DXF, DWG, Shapefiles,
oUnderstand the Vectorworks plant database
oPrepare custom plant graphic symbols
oPrepare detail planting plans
oUse the Hardscape tool and hatches for various tasks
oCreate and calculate, cut and fill for a landscape site
oPrepare a Landscape Concept plan
o3D modelling
More advanced 3D modelling

Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will comprise of weekly course handouts, computer class exercises with the Tutor and one on one time with the Tutor in the class sessions as required.
Basic of Assessment
Students must attempt all assessments and Students need to attain a mark of 50 or above in their overall grade to obtain a pass in this course
