To develop knowledge of materials and methods appropriate to use in the development of the hard landscape as well as develop practical construction skills appropriate for use in landscape installation contracting.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course the student will be able to:

1.Understand and apply CAD file drawing interface and good CAD drawing practices
2.Use CAD to understand drawing with co-ordinate systems.
3.Use and understand commands to generate CAD drawings, for Landscape Master Plans, construction details and simple 3D drawings.
4.Produce a hard copy of drawings to scale using Layers and sheets with title blocks and relevant notations
5.Attain skill and understanding in the Landmark application of Vectorworks to produce quantifies landscape plan and budget

CAD
oUse of co-ordinates to draw simple geometric forms.
oCreating a prototype drawing with units/precision/directions/layers and line types.
oDrawing using draw and modify commands to include line, circle, trim, copy etc.
oUse display commands to include zoom, pan etc
oProduce hard copy of drawings suited to presentation.
oProduce Construction Details to use and modify existing pre-drawn construction details.
oUse of Worksheets to produce landscape costings

Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will comprise of theory and computer classes, tutorial sessions, practical sessions, group projects, written assignments, oral & practical and written tests.
Basic of Assessment
Students must attempt all assessments and present a folio of all projects successfully completed. Assessments must be submitted in Hardcopy and Softcopy file format. Students need attain a mark of 50 or above in their overall grade to obtain a pass.
