- 1. Apply culturally responsive knowledge and skills to the holistic assessment of the woman/wahine in early pregnancy and/or preconception.
2. Work in partnership with women/waahine who are experiencing early pregnancy and gynaecological conditions and apply referral guidelines as appropriate.
3. Apply appropriate and culturally responsive communication skills when working with women/waahine, family/whaanau and other professionals, including documentation.
4. Apply knowledge of health screening programmes for women/waahine. - Content
- Clinical placement (150 hours)
• Te Ao Maaori – Maaori world views, values and belief system
• Tikanga Maaori me Te Whare Tangata – Maaori customs and protocols pertaining to the womb, pregnancy and childbirth
• Considerations of ‘tau’ and ‘noa’ within midwifery practice
• Pepeha and mihimihi
• Te reo Maaori pronunciation

- The portfolio is comprised of multiple components.
Students need to provide evidence against all learning outcomes, and gain an overall mark of 50% to pass this module.
Students must meet all the clinical requirements, including evidence of a minimum of 150 hours clinical placement to be eligible to pass this module. - Teaching and Learning Strategy
