Prescription
The aim of this module is to enable the student to prepare for the transition to becoming a midwife. Furthermore, it will develop the integration of effective teaching within midwifery practice, making decisions about employment options, and using a framework for professional development. Learning in earlier modules is synthesised in readiness for the Midwifery Council of New Zealand National Examination.

- On completion of this module students will be able to:
1.Demonstrate the Standards of Practice and Competencies for registration to work as a New Zealand midwife

- - Develop a midwifery portfolio according to the Midwifery Council competencies for entry to the Register of midwives and NZCOM Standards of Practice
- Develop a personal philosophy of midwifery practice
- Compile a CV
- Manage self in practice:
o Dealing with feedback
o Dealing with conflict
o Self-reflection
o Peer and self-review
o NZCOM MSR process
o Mentoring and mentorship
o Debriefing critical and or stressful incidents

- Revision prior to MCNZ National Midwifery Examination

- Teaching strategies and learning methods will include practicum and reflection upon practicum.
- Evidence of Achievement
- Students must meet all the requirements of the competency based assessment tasks to be eligible for a final grade for this module. The final grade will be on the basis of the marks from the achievement based tasks.

- A list of current readings will be provided on Moodle. However students are expected to read widely.
- Assessment Criteria
- Students must meet all the requirements of the competency based assessment tasks to be eligible for a final grade for this module. All assessments must be attempted and submitted. Failure to do so will result in a 'fail' for the paper.
