On completion of this module students will be able to:
1.Consolidate and integrate previous knowledge, values and skills in order to practice safe, competent and culturally appropriate midwifery care for women who are experiencing complex social, environmental and psychological situations.
2.Integrate comprehensiveevidence based midwifery knowledge that is constantly developing using multiple ways of knowing that have become integrated into practice.
3.Demonstrate accountability to women, the midwifery professionand to the midwifery school that reflects current New Zealand legislation.
4.Apply effective, appropriate and professional communication skills when working with women and their families in complex situations.

Teaching strategies and learning methods will include practicum and reflection upon practicum.

A list of current readings will be provided on Moodle. However students are expected to read widely.
Assessment Criteria
Students must meet all the requirements of the competency based assessment tasks to be eligible for a final grade for this module. All assessments must be attempted and submitted. Failure to do so will result in a 'fail' for the paper.
