The work placement is designed to provide students with the opportunity to improve and develop their knowledge and skills gained from throughout the programme in an industry work environment and prepare them for employment.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module students will be able to:

Undertake all duties and tasks as described in their work placement agreement.
• A minimum of 150 hours of work experience completed in accordance with the students’ placement agreement

Maintain a reflective journal on their work performance
• Journal details daily activities and reflection on own performance and plans for improvement.

Analyse and report their experience of the work environment
• A report is prepared which evaluates the work placement learning experience
• The report details arrangements and expectations of the work experience, details of the workplace and analysis of its relationships and activity in the industry as well as how the work experience has assisted the transition to employment.
Content
Work placements are subject to learning contracts agreed between the students, the placement provider and Wintec Staff. The Faculty of Applied Technology Work Placement Arrangements and Agreement shall be used to establish the work placement requirements.
Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this module is mixed mode. To pass this module all assessments must be submitted and an overall minimum pass mark of 50% is required. Students must also meet all the requirements of the competency based tasks and demonstrate compliance with all legislative and industry requirements while on work experience to pass this module. The final grade will be based on the marks from the achievement based tasks.

Wintec at all times remains accountable for the student’s activities and assessments based on the various contracts, report forms and assessment instruments used. The students accept responsibility for their learning and progress in the module and are accountable to Wintec through their learning contract.
