Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module students will be able to:
1. Produce transactional written text (i.e. writing that is intended to convey factual information or to argue the validity of a point of view with objective evidence)
2. Develop ideas logically, in sequence and support them with relevant details and/or examples.
3. Demonstrate the appropriate use of conventions of writing for tertiary purposes
4. Proof read and edit writing, with guidance, to reach publication standard
5. Demonstrate basic literacy skills in reading and writing
6. Write complete sentences, and coherent paragraphs with minimal errors in spelling and grammar
7. Use reading strategies appropriate to the text
8. Read a variety of texts to gain knowledge
9. Identify key words in assignment questions/topic
10. Use mind mapping/brainstorming techniques to plan pieces of writing
11. With guidance, locate, use and correctly reference up to date information to support own writing
12. With guidance, use in-text referencing and compile reference lists according to APA formatting
