Prescription
This module aims to develop tools, behaviours and strategies for successful study and aims to develop introductory competence, and confidence in Te Reo Maori for the use within the early childhood education setting, including developing resources for promoting Maori language. The module aims to introduce basic subject knowledge in music and movement, the visual arts, dramatic play and emergent literacy, including developing teaching resources.

By the end of this module students will be able to:
1. Use tools, strategies and behaviours for successful study.
2. Demonstrate competence and confidence in writing for tertiary purposes.
3. Successfully use the library and academic databases.
4. Show competence and confidence in using ICT for tertiary purposes, information gathering
and introductory search skills, including Wintec's online learning tools. - Content
- Knowledge and skills required for effective study including, library skills, time management, personal management, learning styles, ICT skills, reading skills and note taking, assignment planning.
- Teaching and Learning Strategy
- - Team taught, lectures, lecturerials, literature, reflective practice, experiential learning through
practicum, praxis, demonstration and instruction, specialist guest speakers, language
instruction, ICT labs and library sessions.
- Self-directed learning, workshops and online participation, and participation in community of
practice/learners. - Assessment Criteria
- Assessment in this module is achievement based. Students will be required to achieve a result of 40 or better in each of the assessment tasks. The overall mark to pass the module must be 50 or better.
