Prescription
The aim of this module is to further develop and reinforce student skills in computer aided design (CAD) techniques and introduce more advanced concepts with rendering and illustration packages as used in industry practice to an advanced level of competence. These skills enable students to undertake and execute advanced drawings and communication methods for interior design projects using appropriate computer aided presentation methods to a recognised industry standard as appropriate to clients.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will have the knowledge and skills required to:

1. Apply advanced CAD techniques to design, and convert drawings and communication for commercial and larger scaled projects
- Use current industry software to design interior spaces and create floor plans, elevations and detail drawings of as required for interior design projects
- Develop detailed construction and assembly drawings to a prescribed scale suitable for production

2. Apply CAD software to enable the solving of complex interior design concepts/problems
- Produce in Cad, plan, elevation and perspective drawings to a defined scale. Showing correct projection and notation for a given interior brief.
- Produce 3 dimensional drawings showing skills in importing and selecting images including furnishings and equipment for placement

3. Select and visually present specialised materials and finishes required to meet a range of commercial interior environments
- Apply rendering and texturing techniques to concept drawings and visuals,
- Display advanced application of effects and finishes on plan, elevation and perspective design drawings including lighting, shade and shadows

4. Present conceptual idea solutions through professional client presentations
- Develop a range of professional presentation methods applicable to project briefs and client requirement
- Develop skills to produce animated visual effects and 3 dimensional models to a professional level for a client presentation

Teaching and Learning Strategy
Tutor/s will:
- Establish themes and issues for analysis and discussion
- Construct models for analysis and discussion of texts, visual works, precedent studies
- Prescribe structure for working through stages of a project
- Negotiate topic, workload, and the form of the presentation with students
- Prescribe exercises to develop drawn, written and oral presentation skills
- Facilitate student's progress through structured exercises and supervision of regular self-assessment

Students will:
- Participate in collaborative critiques
- Grade assessment performed by peers, tutor(s) and guest critics
Assessment Criteria
To pass this module, students must pass all assessments and accumulate an overall mark of no less than 50.

Note:
1) Attendance requirements of the School of Media Arts must be observed.
2) If you wish to be assessed in Maori, please inform staff at the beginning
