Prescription
The aim of this module is to introduce students to and develop their knowledge and skills in computer aided design (CAD) techniques and introduce a range of presentation concepts with current software packages as used in industry practice and give students the competence to present residential interior design projects. These skills will allow students to undertake and execute drawings and communication presentation methods for interior design projects using appropriate digital techniques.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, students will have the knowledge and skills to:

1. Use CAD software programs associated with interior design, and convert manual drawings
- Apply digital techniques to design interior spaces and create floor plans, elevations and detail drawings as required for residential interior projects
- employ the fundamental skills of applying software applications to a variety of design outcomes
- Execute space planning techniques with floor plan diagrams and layouts using a range of software applications


2. Describe the fundamentals of appropriate software and apply it to solve interior design concepts/problems
- Produce in Cad, plan, elevation and perspective drawings to a
defined scale, showing correct projection and notations for a given interior space
- Prepare and present projects using a variety of presentation techniques including oral and visual methods as required for client presentations


3. Produce digital communication and presentation boards
- Create High resolution images and arrange images to a defined brief
- Select and apply a range of tools and techniques to create visual communication suitable for client presentation and discussion

Teaching and Learning Strategy
Tutor/s will:
- Establish themes and issues for analysis and discussion
- Construct models for analysis and discussion of texts, visual works, precedent studies
- Prescribe structure for working through stages of a project
- Negotiate topic, workload, and the form of the presentation with students
- Prescribe exercises to develop drawn, written and oral presentation skills
- Facilitate student's progress through structured exercises and supervision of regular self-assessment

Students will:
- Participate in dialogue and identify relevant themes from lectures and readings
- Develop their understanding of issues explored in texts and visual works
- identify areas of interest that form the basis of an area of research, a design project or presentation
- Participate in collaborative critiques
- Grade assessment performed by peers, tutor(s) and guest critics
Evidence of Achievement
To pass this module, students must pass all assessments and accumulate an overall mark of no less than 50.

1) Attendance requirements of the School of Media Arts must be observed.
