Prescription
To provide students with the knowledge, attributes and skills to provide, maintain and evaluate administrative systems, processes and services individually and as part of a team for a New Zealand business entity and to select and use appropriate customer service techniques and communication skills to meet stakeholder expectations. Students will complete 24 hours of work experience in a suitable context.

1. Select, apply and maintain appropriate business systems and processes to provide
administration services that meet business entity needs.

2. Select and apply appropriate customer service techniques and communication skills to
provide administration services that consistently meet stakeholder expectations.

3. Work independently and collaboratively and contribute to the achievement of goals and
team objectives.

4. Maintain appropriate workplace standards of professional behaviour and practice, and
comply with internal policies, legislation, and external requirements.
Content
- Administrative systems; including photocopying, scanning, travel arrangements, calendar
scheduling, printing, reporting faults

- Meetings; including coordinating, participating in, and recording minutes

- Customer services; including customer relationship management, visitor management,
reception services, using telephone systems, dealing with complaints

- Teamwork; common purpose, team roles, team leadership skills, setting/clarifying team
objectives, providing and receiving feedback

- Professional practice attributes: effective and appropriate communication skills, social and
cultural awareness and sensitivity, self-management, time-management, using initiative,
professional behaviour and appearance, ethical behaviour, interpersonal skills, working
collaboratively, compliance with internal and external policies, legislation, and requirements,
responsibility, reliability.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching methods may include theoretical and practical classes including lectures, group work, online activities, workshops, simulation, case studies, projects and guest speakers
Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this module is achievement based. The portfolio is comprised of multiple components. To pass the module, students must attempt any specific assessment components as specified by the Course Outline and must achieve a minimum 50% overall to pass the module.
