Midwifery Praxis II

Prescription

This module will enable the midwife to develop knowledge and capabilities through critical, contextualised analysis of the complexities of midwifery practice. Midwives will critically reflect on the changing demographics of women and social infrastructure within society, which influence care provision. Using reflexivity and research, the midwife will influence and lead ways of working that progress service provision and the midwifery profession.

Teaching and Learning Strategy: Teaching and learning methods will involve theoretical and online sessions including tutorials, workshops, group activities, discussion, independent learning, and assignments.

Students in this module are required to seek the support of a mentor for formative, reflexive conversations. These conversations are to support leadership, quality and risk, and practice development skills and knowledge.
Assessment Criteria: Criteria to Pass this Module:
The portfolio is divided into multiple components. Midwives will need to submit all components and achieve a minimum overall grade of 50 to pass the module.

An extended reading list will be supplied by the tutor at commencement of the course. This will be updated annually.
