- 1: Demonstrate an understanding of the interrelationship between people resource planning
and the effective management of tourism organisations.
2: Apply the principles of job analysis and design in a tourism context.
3: Develop, analyse and critique staff recruitment, selection, and induction, training and staff
development in a tourism context.
4: Analyse motivation and performance management methods in a tourism organisation.
5: Critique their own current leadership competencies and capabilities, and design a
professional development plan to support their own leadership development.
6: Monitor and manage workplace compliance with relevant Acts and legislation related to
employment, health, safety and security. - Content
- - Human resource processes for a tourism organisation, including job analysis and design,
recruitment and selection, and induction; and performance management including
motivation theories, setting work targets/objectives and training and development.
- Leadership theories and methods including effective leadership methods and leadership
development.
- Relevant Acts and legislation relating to employment and health, safety and security.
- Professional practice attributes: effective communication, interpersonal skills, problem
solving, self-management, effective time- and task-management, personal presentation,
responsibility, reliability. - Teaching and Learning Strategy
- Teaching will involve blended delivery methods incorporating the Moodle online delivery platform. Other delivery methods may involve theoretical and practical classes, face to face, lectures, tutorials, workshops, group activities, guest tutors, field trips, role-play, and video conferencing, as appropriate.
- Assessment Criteria
- Assessment in this module is achievement-based. The portfolio is comprised of multiple compulsory components; candidates must attempt all components and achieve a minimum C grade pass overall to pass the module.
