Content
-Tree work terms; clearance, crown lift, fall distance defect, fall to grade, maximum sag defect, reduction, swing clearance
-Paperwork; hazard identification sheets, job or timesheets, maintenance checklists, procedure forms, notification to Occupational Safety and Health Services (OSH), Department of Labour (DOL) notification
-Public and personal liability insurance
-Network liaison; circuit and voltage confirmation, Work Authority, shut down procedures, company procedures, private high voltage spur lines, close approach permits
-Hazards; hazard identification sheets, equipment and machine checklists, crew briefings, task allocation, work plan and strategies
-Hazard control; manual climbing, elevated platforms (EWP), ground work, working above ground, working near electricity supply lines
-Advising network operator; contractor, work commencement date and time, feeder worked on, work authority for HV lines, estimated duration of work
-Equipment selection, check and use; ancillary equipment, chainsaws, climbing equipment, friction devices, non-conductive ladders and/or pole saws, non-conductive equipment, lowering lines and devices, personal equipment, spikes, flip lines
-Codes of Practice
-Tree work; manual work and EWP, side trimming, maximum sag, fall distance, over the top, felling
-Job finishing; site clean up, work authority return, log-off
-Emergency procedures; near miss, damaged lines, damaged hardware, injured personnel, inadvertent contact with climber ad EWP
-Contact persons and details; network owner, contractor, ambulance service, fire service, OSH, police, DOL
-Two and three person aerial rescue
-First aid procedures; burns, unconscious victim, cuts, slips, trips, falls
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will be face to face delivery including workshops, project based interactive tasks, with group sessions, tutorials, and creation of portfolios of evidence.

Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this module is mixed mode. Students must gain a minimum mark of 50% in the achievement-based assessments and meet all the requirements of the competency-based assessments including carrying out all tasks in a safe manner and to industry standard to be eligible for a final grade for this module. The final grade will be based on the marks from the achievement-based assessment tasks.
