Understand and describe the hazards and the safety requirements involved in tree work near electrical lines and equipment.
Prepare for and carry out tree work near electricity supply lines.
Demonstrate emergency procedures.
Prepare and use an elevated platform vehicle for arboriculture works.
Supervise and provide instruction to other team members.
Content
-Potential hazards and control of hazards.
-Safe working distances and minimum approach distances.
-First aid procedures appropriate to electrical incidents.
-Network management liaison requirements.
-Selection and use of equipment, and safe operation checks.
-Site specifications, company procedures, emergency procedures and Code of Practice requirements for tree work.
-Aerial rescues.
-Elevated work platform vehicle operation.
-Supervision of arboricultural crews and provision of instructions to other team members.
-Professional practice attributes: sustainable practices; effective communication skills; professional and ethical behaviour; teamwork; accurate record-keeping.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will be face to face delivery including workshops, project based interactive tasks, with group sessions, tutorials, and creation of portfolios of evidence.
