Learning Outcomes
Identify the form and features to be emphasised in the tree in arboriculture situations.
Work as a team or individually to prune young trees and shrubs under 10 metres in an arboriculture situation and report on activities.
Identify trees commonly worked on in arboriculture.
Identify and control common tree pests and diseases.
Identify common hazards associated with tree pruning.
Content
-Enhancement of trees by pruning in terms of their features.
-Pruning trees to obtain the desired form.
-Identification of trees and their appropriate pruning method.
-Identification and control of pruning hazards.
-Personal Protection Equipment.
-Communication and Teamwork.
-Tools used in pruning operations.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Theoretical face-to-face and online sessions including workbooks, lectures, workshops, group practical activities, discussion, independent learning, and assignments centred on project based learning.

Assessment in this module is competency based. Students must attain the required standard in all assessments and carry out all tasks in a safe manner and to industry standard to pass the module.
