The aim of this module is to develop student's ability to establish and maintain amenity turf areas in parks and open spaces with limited supervision, and undertake basic first aid and life support procedures.

Work individually or as part of a team to carry out pre and post mowing equipment and site checks and report on findings.
Work individually or as part of a team to carry out mowing operations using a range of mowing equipment, maintenance tools, and small equipment to maintain amenity turf areas.
Work individually or as part of a team to maintain amenity turf to workplace standards.
Apply knowledge of turf grasses, pests, diseases and weeds to routine maintenance of parks and open spaces.
Work individually or as part of a team to prepare for and carry out installation and establishment of amenity turf.
Undertake basic first aid and life support procedures.

-Preparation of mowing equipment.
-Site assessment prior to mowing.

-First Aid; person's conditions, accepted practices.
-Life Support; Hazardous situations, responsiveness, airway, breathing, breathing support, airway obstruction.
-Maintenance of amenity turf equipment and tools.
-Turf repairs and maintenance.
-Inputs for turf health and quality.
-Plants used for amenity turf.
-Pest, disease and weed identification for amenity turf.
-Soil preparation for turf.
-Sowing seed.
-Laying and lifting turf.
-Turf establishment.
-Record keeping and reporting.
-Communication and Teamwork.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Theoretical face-to-face and online sessions including workbooks, lectures, workshops, group activities, discussion, independent learning, and assignments centred on project based learning. Theory is applied to carrying out practical tasks in this context.
