When you meet her, one of the first things you’ll notice about Debbie is her ‘super-passion’ for design thinking. After seven years of working in tourism marketing across Australia, based in Victoria and Tasmania, Debbie moved back to her home town of Hamilton to working in marketing for Wintec. Five years later, customer service became her ‘thing’ and she learnt skills in human-centred design, and how to apply them to solve the problems and challenges that Wintec faces.
Over the last three years of learning the skills, including a year of coaching from PwC, Debbie has been involved in co-design, prototyping and testing with heaps of different customer groups to design future insights frameworks, future work integrated learning experiences, future experiences of becoming a student, and a future support model.
Proving herself absolutely invaluable to Wintec, Debbie works tirelessly to lead, coach and support design thinking projects across the institute. When she has a spare minute you’ll find her supporting students and staff with projects and the Design Factory programme.
