Ramp Festival 2021

Ramp Festival 2021
Three days of kōrero and exchange with change-making creatives doing things differently.

When: Wednesday 4 to Friday 6 August 2021, 9am to late
Where: Events Room 1, Hamilton City Campus
Festival programme: www.ramp.ac.nz

In these extraordinary times, the global pandemic has forced a shift to all our priorities and the way we see work, life, art-making, and how we utilise our time. Many have found that a new pace to life has led to a questioning of what is ‘normal’ and whether we even want to go back to the way things were. This has given rise to an opportunity for real exploration of environmental concerns and a focus on tangible change through social movements, big and small.

Many creative practitioners have explored the margins of these spaces, pushing boundaries and bringing new imagined futures to life. This year Ramp Festival is responding to the collective call for change with this provocation; how can the creative industries imagine new futures and shift mindsets for alternative modes of thinking, feeling, and doing?

We’ve invited a rōpū (group) of creatives, who all influence change in their own ways, to speak on regenerative thinking, circular design, and Mātauranga Māori. The festival will become a space for progressive kōrero, exchange, and actionable ideas to not only fire up your creative practice, but to also inspire you to live a more interconnected life.

Come along and engage in the talks, workshops and exhibitions throughout the festival. Reflecting on the kaupapa of the creatives you meet will allow you to explore your own creative practice and influence how you want to position yourself in this new future.

I’m a student/staff member; do I need to register to attend? No, just bring along your student ID.

I’m a member of the public; how do I register? The talks are FREE for our creative community. To attend, register for a single digital ticket to get entry to all talks. Register here.
