1:Apply best practice in the use, care and maintenance of diagnostic imaging equipment in veterinary practice.
2:Coordinate and apply methods and principles of safe diagnostic techniques in veterinary practice.
3:Detail and differentiate between common diagnostic imaging techniques used in veterinary practice.
Content
-Use, care, maintenance of diagnostic equipment
-Patient positioning and prep for different imaging techniques.
-Imaging for different conditions (e.g. pregnancy, PENN-HIP radiographic screening method for canine hip evaluation, dental radiography)
-Modes of diagnostic imaging and their application
-Obtaining a range of routine diagnostic samples
-Coordinate and perform in-house diagnostic techniques
- Management of in-house diagnostics samples and laboratory procedures, including: blood, vaginal swab, faecal egg counting
-Professional practice attributes: Compliance with workplace health and safety requirements; knowledge of relevant legislation and animal welfare standards; sustainable practice; effective communication skills, effective delegation skills; professional and ethical behaviour; cultural recognition and sensitivity; teamwork; accurate record-keeping.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Learning will be facilitated using a range of teaching and learning methods, which may include: tutor facilitated and directed presentations and/or lectures, practical or workshop sessions and activities, guest speakers from industry, demonstrations, online learning activities, scenarios and case studies.
