LO 1: Describe and apply basic understanding of efficient, effective, and quality processes within an engineering workshop.

LO 2: Explore a variety of engineering manufacturing processes and explain comparisons between new and old technologies.

Efficient and effective workshop procedures:
- Workplace organisation
- Costing, quoting,
- Workshop ergonomics
- Time management and measurable outcomes
- Trade practice
- Lean manufacturing (internal / external customer’s needs
- Identification and elimination of wasteful processes
- Team work and responsibility
- Awareness and application of simple inspection techniques
- Damage minimisation practices

Quality Processes:
- Quality checks and assurance
- Quality control
- Delivery in Full on Time in Spec (DIFOTIS)
- Professional practice

Engineering Manufacturing Processes:
- New and emerging technologies
- Overview of manufacturing processes
Assessment Criteria
This course is assessed using competency assessment. Aakonga must complete and submit all summative assessments in order to pass and receive credit for this course. The listed unit standards are optional and are not required to pass this course.
