Trade Calculations
- Basic arithmetic
- Use of fractions
- Area and volume calculations
- Perimeter calculations
- Basic metric and Imperial units including base and derived quantities
- Conversion of units
- Pythagoras’ Theorem
- Basic trigonometry to solve lengths and angles of right angle triangles
- Use tables and charts
- Simple machines
- SI prefixes and SI derived quantities

Component Drawings and Sketches:
- Trade-related terminology
- Drawing production and interpretation
- Visualisation
- First and third angle orthographic projection
- Pictorial drawing - isometric, oblique
- Dimensions, symbols, line weights, scale, labelling
- Orientation, proportion, dimensions, related notes
- Sketching techniques
- Basic geometric construction methods
- Basic CAD - Basic sketches, simple models
Assessment Criteria
This course is assessed using competency assessment. Aakonga must complete and submit all summative assessments in order to pass and receive credit for this course. The listed unit standards are optional and are not required to pass this course.
