Wintec wins the Global Operator award at the Westpac Waikato Business Awards

Wintec (Waikato Institute of Technology) won the Global Operator Award in the Westpac Waikato Business Awards in Hamilton on Friday night.

The awards judges’ stated “Wintec’s investment into internationalisation is impressive. As New Zealand’s only tertiary institution operating an international college in China and providing off-shore delivery in Saudi Arabia, Wintec has developed significant expertise in export education.

“The ongoing commitment of the chief executive, dedicated executives, support and delivery staff is truly outstanding, enabling Wintec to successfully manage relationships and student outcomes which require a galvanised effort and a very clear vision.”

Wintec chief executive Mark Flowers said he was delighted to accept the award on behalf of the hundreds of Wintec staff who work hard to share Wintec’s vision for international education.

“Internationalisation for Wintec has been a long-term team effort leading to success in the China, Saudi Arabia, South-east Asia and South American markets,” he said.

“Education is now the fourth largest export earner for New Zealand. The work we do promotes New Zealand, Hamilton and Wintec. For our staff, it involves many visits to other countries often in difficult circumstances and demands a high level of quality education and student support both here and in our overseas markets.”

Foster Construction was named as Supreme Winner at the 2017 Westpac Waikato Business Awards.

Award winners, as well as 2017 Laureates to the Waikato Business Hall of Fame, were announced at the annual gala dinner on Friday November 3 at Claudelands Events Centre.

Waikato Chamber of Commerce chief executive, William Durning said that once again the business community from across Waikato came together with a strong unified voice representing all those in business, and the role that business plays in supporting and enabling the Waikato community.

“Waikato business has never been stronger, more dynamic or caring in its support of the community at large.  We take great pride in saying here in the Mighty Waikato there are great things happening in business that impact not just our region, but across New Zealand and the globe.”
